LAUX 1st Vice Report June 2017

Thank each and every one of you for electing me to serve as your 1st Vice.  I will do my best to serve you and AMVETS 2000 for this coming year.

We have had a great month but we need help in June for Thursday dinners.  We are only making dinners for 20 as the snowbirds have gone home for the summer.  If you can help us please call Sue at 941-255-2866.   We need ladies to take money and serve meals and of course the cooks for Thursdays meals.  It really is fun and great to work and get to know each other.  Thursday meals is a great way we make money for our charities, and a lot of people like to come eat before the Queen of Hearts.

We have some wonderful new ladies that have joined our ladies Auxiliary please welcome them. They are Joyce Fraser, Maureen Iceland, Bonnie Sturgell & Chris Livek. That makes 124  total member for the ladies.  We are a great group of ladies

Thank you for letting me serve you.

Sue Kasakowski, LAUX 1st Vice

Kentucky Derby Report

Thank you to all who came to enjoy our pony races, bonnet and silks contests and the Derby race. It takes a lot of volunteers to provide all of the entertainment on that day. I would like to give a big shout out to Angela Bliss for donating a good portion of the food and cooking and along with Sherry Bhada, our Scholarship Officer, for serving and the clean-up. We had Timmy B. as the announcer and Christine R. and Dee L. helping with pony races.

Joey was the big winner of the pony auction winning $170.00, Sherry B. and Joannie O. winners of the silks contest and Woody with a fine performance in the bonnet contest winning 1st place and Sherry B. 2nd place. Ken (from euchre group) won the basket of cheer and thanks Holly for helping me put the basket together. There were 5 people that picked the derby winner, Always Dreaming.

Helping a young person go to college is keeping their dream alive and so, I thank you all again for your donations. All proceeds, a little over $800, went into our internal scholarship fund.

On June 10th after our joint installation ceremonies, I will be taking donation wagers on the Belmont Stakes for the Sons of Amvets charities.
