District 10 Commanders Report August 2017

Greetings AMVETS Family & Friends........

Looks like another HOT Summer in South West Florida is fast approaching as well as a lot of
upcoming programs and fun things to do.

I have just returned from the AMVETS State Convention in Orlando Where District X was well
represented by our AMVETS, LAUX, SONS, & Riders. I realize that it is sometimes an effort to
attend the State Executive Committee meetings so I was really pleased to see so many of you
from District X there. For those of you who did not know, there are four Posts in District X. in
numerical order, Post 301 is in Ellenton ~ Post 312 in North Port ~ Post 941 ~ in Palmetto and
Post 200 in North Port.  I have been informed by the State Commander that a new AMVETS
Post has been established in Rotonda, It most likely will not be in our District, however you can
tell the AMVETS FAMILY is continually growing.

During the convention, we had our elections for AMVETS State of Florida Officers and I am
pleased to announce that Terry Corson of Post 312 is the newly elected~~~~~(drum roll please)
AMVETS STATE COMMANDER  2017-2019.  CONGRATULATIONS TERRY!!

Post 941 in Palmetto received an award for the Post meeting a 10% gain in membership. Post
941 is the newest Post in our District, it will be presented to them at their next meeting.
Post 2000 in North Port did an outstanding job with "Homes for our Troops" raising
over $2000.00 for their charity this year. Good Job!   Be sure to stop in Post 2000 on Sunday mornings for a
cooked to order breakfast sometime.
Post 301 and 941 also have numerous projects going on in their Communities.

All in All we are a group of AWESOME PEOPLE..........spread the word.!!!

Yours in service,
Barbara J. McGann
District X Commander
